Emanuel Synagogue Youth
Code of Conduct 2019/2020
To provide safe programming, we have established a Code of Conduct, which promotes Jewish values, self-esteem, and community. We hope that you, our parents, will support our efforts to build strong Jewish identities in each of our children. This way, we are all partners in striving for excellence. We ask that both the youth member and a parent/guardian sign the following code:
Anyone who violates this code of conduct can be subject to disciplinary consequences and will the parents and child will be deemed NOT in “good standing”. Members violating the code of conduct at out-of-town events are subject to immediate expulsion and are responsible for any additional travel expenses incurred as a result. Any child receiving a scholarship violating the code of conduct is subject to reimbursement of monies received. If a youth member is asked to leave a program, there will be no refund issued.
- Each member is expected to conduct him/herself appropriately as a Conservative Jew (including through the observances of Shabbat and Kashrut), in accordance with the applicable standards of the Emanuel Synagogue.
- Possession or use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, and/or weapons is not permitted at any Youth Group program. All members are expected to follow local law
- Each member is expected to maintain proper decorum and attitude during the entire program. Disruptive behavior (including, but not limited to; not participating, fighting, bullying, sexual harassment) will not be tolerated.
- Members of the opposite sex are not permitted in each other’s sleeping areas during youth functions. No youth member may leave his or her room after curfew.
- Youth participants and their parents will be held responsible for any damages to, or losses of, personal or other property caused by their children, during a youth function.
- Payments for activities must be received before the deadline (for regional or local events) for each program. The Youth Department reserves the right to charge an additional fee for late forms and payment.
- Members are expected to follow the directions of the adult in charge, as well as any peers leading programming. The supervising adult reserves the right to remove a participant from any program for inappropriate, disruptive, or illegal behavior.
- No participant may leave a program without parental permission given directly to the event coordinator.
